The design for a 200m long footbridge across the Royal Victoria Dock was to connect Silvertown on the south to the ExCel exhibition centre on the north, with a 15m clearance for tall-masted ships. Two optional designs were developed both addressing high levels of exposure of the crossing and the prevailing weather conditions both were covered structures.
